For my first smackdown video I chose the app Buffer: Social Media Manager. My major here at Stockton University is business with a concentration in marketing. This app is a great tool for marketers in an age where a large portion of marketing and advertising are done over the internet, specifically social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.). We have all been on social media and have seen various ad campaigns. This app makes it easy to post a wide variety of posts on these social media platforms. It allows users to post on all platforms at the same time instead of having to surf from platform to platform and create different posts.
The user can create a schedule for when and where they want their ads to be posted. They can even create the ads ahead of time and the app will post days later for them. This is great for organized people because they can create and set up their posts in the beginning of the week for the whole week and not have to worry about constantly posting advertisements. As a future marketer this app is something that I will surely use and recommend to others. People respond more to visual campaigns than written ones so this app simplifies an important aspect of marketing for them.

This is such a great marketing tool! I wonder if it would also be useful for blogs who are trying to promote a specific page but don't have time to constantly post advertisements or links to their page! This definitely takes some of the strain off of the companies who are trying to promote their products! Do you know of any companies currently utilizing this app?
ReplyDeleteBuffer seems very useful for your line of work! I did an internship last year where I learned about several marketing techniques through social media but I wish I had this app at the time! It would have saved me a lot of time with how easy it is to have a scheduled post.
ReplyDeleteDave, Buffer sounds great, especially for businesses, so that they could schedule posts instead of having to actively work on posting. It sounds like a time saver for sure!
ReplyDeleteHi Dave, I am also a business major with a concentration in marketing. I have experience using a scheduling app called Later which is similar to Buffer. Although I have never used Buffer, it is equally as helpful in keeping posts organized on multiple social media platforms.
ReplyDeleteDave, I think this is a great tool. One of the best aspects, I think, is that users can make a schedule for when they want their ads to be posted. I think that is really important because once the advertisement is made then the schedule can be set and the user can go onto working on the next thing without worrying about forgetting to post or missing a deadline.
ReplyDeleteHello Dave! I wish I had known about this application sooner. This concept is great for people that are in the marketing field because it will essentially give them more time to focus on other tasks by doing part of the work for them! I think this is also beneficial because it ensures that you won't forget to post about something if you already have it scheduled out ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteGreat presentation! I have downloaded this app right after watching your presentation. I am running a public planner Instagram account, and I know how hard it is to keep posting every day. This app is a great social media manager that I can schedule to post for the whole week so that I can focus on other stuff, and only have to go back and check once a week. I can imagine how useful it is in your field because regular posting is required for efficient promotion.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that your in the field of marketing, I think Buffer is fantastic for you. I can see that anyone in this field, or anyone who wants to run a business, should definitely consider utilizing this as a tool because it is a great channel for pushing out advertisements throughout social media. Learning about Buffer was very interesting, the most intriguing part for me was the aspect that it can post across all platforms.
ReplyDeleteHello, Dave! I can definitely see how this app would be beneficial to a career in marketing, especially in today's climate of social media marketing. Could you see yourself partnering with a digital artist to prepare posts or would you create content yourself?
ReplyDeleteHi David, Buffer: Social Media Manager seems very useful in the business world. I thought it was really cool how users can make a schedule for the times they want their items to be posted and advertised. This allows for their posts to still go out even if they are busy. It was cool how you mentioned that people respond more to visuals than to the written word and I entirely agree with this. This tool allows for more effective advertising of businesses.
ReplyDeleteIt blows my mind that there's an app for an app. But with the large amount of social media apps I can see the need for this app. Buffer seems like a must for someone who is required to run social media platforms for a business or even for a high profile person. This app allows for precision management of social media. Learn something new everyday!
ReplyDeleteI can see how this can be very beneficial to marketing people, and can also be great for managing all of your accounts in one place. Since you're in the marketing field, this is going to be very important for you.
ReplyDeleteThis app seems very cool! I like the fact that you can set up stuff in advance. How do you see yourself using this in your future career? Do you think this app could be used outside of the business major?
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteI think your app and presentation is awesome! The app itself seems most beneficial to a business major. I like how users can choose when their ads are posted and can manage almost all postings timings in the app. How do you think Buffer can be used outside the business world?
This seems like a great app to use in marketing and time efficiency. A schedule can be planned in advance of your week allowing for more creative freedom and/ or concentration in perhaps another project.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave! I like that your application allows users to access multiple social media platforms in one place. Currently, there are hundreds of apps that are checked daily by consumers. This is too many for applications for advertisers to get in touch with individually. I also think it is interesting that the user can set a schedule when advertisements are posted. Good job!
ReplyDeleteHi Dave! This app seems perfect to use in the marketing world. Ads always seem to pop up in really smart ways. Having things planned for the future in the marketing world can keep you more organized.
ReplyDeleteProfessionals that rely on social media for their advertising needs would need this app. Reaching clients on every platform can help a companies marketing and this is a great way to make sure it gets done.
ReplyDeleteHi David!
ReplyDeleteBuffer is extremely useful in your profession. The best part about this app is that it allows the users to post on all social media apps at the same time. This definitely saves time. I have never used this app before so I really enjoyed your presentation on buffer.
